- Trained as a district court and court of appeal judge in Germany.
- Served as sole arbitrator as well as member and chairman of arbitral tribunals in several institutional or ad hoc proceedings governed by various rules (SCMA, Swiss Rules, UNCITRAL, CEAC).
- Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (FAIADR)
- Member of the German Institution of Arbitration (Deutsche Institution für Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit e. V.)
- Member of the ICC Singapore Arbitration Group
- Member of the Chinese-European Arbitration Association (CEAA)
